We’re not used to writing / arranging songs in the studio and that’s exactly what we had to do, limping our way through the third song of the session, “The Paramount.” But after a lot of experimentation and mean faces, we nailed it- I think it’s gonna be a great song. And here’s some exciting news- we’re heading back to CMJ for another showcase! We already have several NYC / Boston area shows planned- can’t wait to see all our friends (especially Black Taxi & FUCT).

Not only did he give me prime real estate for our July 10 Parish show poster and make me a splendid iced tea, he happens to be a very friendly dude. Further research indicated that he played with Voxtrot on their last tour…alas, I loved Voxtrot profoundly and introduced all my New York friends to their happy-retro sounds- they (voxtrot) will be missed.  As for Candi and The Strangers, I’m listening to one of their songs right now and it’s making me feel funny all over. It’s “shoe-gaze with a lady-glaze” ™.

So yeah, I’m pumped about this one. A romping free show at the ultimate Austin “trendy-dive” ™, BEERLAND. We love those dudes at Future Sounds too. Thanks Future Sounds! Neat poster!
